Abstract
The design, synthesis and characterization of symmetrical 3,6-Bis(2-(4-(dodecyloxy)phenyl)-1-(4-(phenyl)diazene)-1,2,4,5-tetrazine are described. The novel sym-tetrazine was prepared by addition reaction of 4-(2-(4-decyloxyphenyl)diazenyl)benzonitrile with hydrazine monohydrate followed by oxidation reaction to afford the corresponding bis(azo)-1,2,4,5-tetrazine. The chemical structure of the sym-tetrazine compound was confirmed by elemental analysis, fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and nuclear magnetic resonance (1H and 13C NMR) spectral measurements.
