Abstract
When woven into fabric, color-changing fibers have the potential to extend the capabilities of intelligent wearable devices to a broad variety of configurations. The incorporation of features into conventional fabrics is one of the reasons why chromatic textiles are being considered. The goal of this study is to present and discuss the overall usability of chromic textiles by evaluating recent breakthroughs in order to pave the way for future research in this field. This will be accomplished by describing the overall usa-bility of chromic fabrics. A comprehensive review of the recent advancements in smart chromic textiles is offered here, with the current state of the art serving as the basis for the presentation. All aspects of chromic textiles, including their applications, experimental verification, performance characterization, main barriers, and future research targets, are investigated.
